The above is a relief map of Jerusalem at the time of King David. The proposition is a simple one. You are the King and you have just captured the area surrounding the only
source of fresh water in the area. This is "The City of David" around
point "3". Your city is protected on three sides by steep ravines and only on the North
are you vulnerable to attack. At point "4" there is a strategic
